This school project is an interactive application aimed toward an audience of all ages. The goal is for the user to create a video montage while simultaneously helping the peacock restore its feathers. Attention to usability and user feedback was essential to encourage exploration and successful completion of the montage.

This site was designed to cater specifically toward Kiki Magazine’s consumers, "tween" girls and their parents. The site’s redesign needed to communicate with a playful, young, and fresh point of view. The final design resulted in bright colors, a combination of photographs with custom illustrations, and a simplistic layout.

I designed and developed this website for B-Books, a publishing company based in the Greater Cincinnati Area. The process involved creating a layout that would successfully show the company’s love of paper and written form while also communicating their purpose and showcasing their portfolio.

QUEEN BEE BLOG DESIGN
In this school assignment we were given the freedom to choose any topic for a blog. I chose food! My last name Appiarius means "bee keeper" and my mother’s name mean’s "queen bee", so with the intention of creating a blog that she could use to document family recipes, I created this design.

I designed and coded this website for Cohron’s Chestnut Acres, an English stable rooted in a love of Irish tradition.

VALENTINE’S DAY MESSENGER
For this illustration I wanted to embrace my quintessential nature to draw all things girly. This is my version of cupid as a strawberries and cream zebra steed mounted by a messenger decked out in cupcake pink and candy purple.
-
CAT-WALKING
When I lived in New York City I kept seeing people walking their tiny toy dogs. This made me want to create a wildly contrasting image of a girl walking giant cats. I had a lot of fun putting this composition together and using the city as a backdrop.

GRAMMIE
This is a portrait of my Great Grandma that I painted for my Mom. We both have fond recollections of her as a graceful and sweet woman who's porch was a family sanctuary flooded with butterflies, irises and geraniums. I integrated our memories into a portrait inspired by nature, Art Nouveau, and most importantly, her life.

A DARK GUIDE
As a child, wolves used to friend my imagination and haunt my dreams. Their majesty still enthralls me and so I made an illustration that started with a sketch in Photoshop and ended with the pen tool in Illustrator.

"I LOVE WHEN YOU SMELL LIKE BUTTER"
This scene was inspired by a quote from a movie. The woman works at a bakery and when she runs in to her ex-husband, he can't help saying "I love when you smell like butter." My indulgent passion for food made me want to take that piece of dialogue and do something fun with it. As a result I drew butter incarnate, a woman in melty yellows baking and being swept off her feet.

REUSABLE SHOPPING BAG
This design was for a competition hosted by JcPenney. Although I wasn’t a finalist, I enjoyed putting my skills toward a product that would’ve been both stylish and meaningful in its representation of the environment and sustainable living. * Competition requirement: limit of 4 colors and must display the JcPenney and Simply Green logo.

ABSTRACT DESIGN SEQUENCE
For this class exercise, I studied leaves, sketched, and compiled a library of designs from which I drew inspiration. I chose to take an elegant approach in creating a 5 sequenced layout that spans from a light and tranquil composition to a dark and royal arrangement of shapes and lines.
-
GUNGIRL 2 SOUNDTRACK
I designed this CD cover for the soundtrack to the computer game GunGirl2 composed by Josh Whelchel. I'll admit that it was a lot of fun to step out of my box into a realm where a bit of sex and violence was needed to communicate the story of the game.
-
POOLSIDE LOGO
This logo was completed for a local Cincinnati band, Poolside.
-
Amanda and Brett's Pissy Pizza Night
This logo was inspired by roommate nights spent ordering Pizza Hut's carb loaded stuffed crust pepperoni while watching television and emotionally venting. Pure goofiness.
-
ICON SYSTEM
The purpose of this class project was to create a cohesive icon system. Throughout the course of this assignment I went through an extensive design process and learned the effectiveness of communicating with a consistent visual language.
-
ANGELS IN IRELAND
This design was created to be printed on tee-shirts and hooded sweatshirts for a spiritual group traveling to Ireland.
-
HART LOGO
I volunteered to design this logo for a local animal rescue center. HART needed a piece that spoke of their love for animals while playing off of the meaning of their name.
